Mi Poesia

New work is always up at Blogger, at La Parola Vivace.  I get many wonderful comments on my work there– stop by! xj

First written in Spanish:

Al Muerte de Yegua y Cria

.

O como quiero abrir mis venas

Como se les fueron tuyos

Que vivo contigo

Yegua habada y hermosa

Siempre a mi amando Vida.

.

.

Agua, quitate orita mis lagrimas

Hasta tu mismo

Que se hace pasar  mi tristeza

Lleva mi cancion

adetras de las piedras resbaladas

Banqueate mis cicatrizes

Arregla mi pello con flores blancas

Dejami ser tu luminosidad

Quitami por tu senda

Por el Rio Grande

Hasta el mar rojo morado

Del eternidad.

English

On the Death of a Mare and Foal…

O how I want to open my veins

As yours were opened

How I want to be with you,

Dappled grey mare loving-me

Vida.

.

How I want to go down to the creek

Portage the years’ heavy self down to the creek

And open my heart with a clean slice

Water makes for a hidden death;

Dry Creek would leach me of life

And as my breath left and I went to sleep

My soul would ascend, a chimera,

shimmering, a dragonfly

Joining the first star at dusk

Guided to the constellation you have become

Lashing your tail, stillborn Nadja at your side,

Sentinels

Of the broken.

.

Water, take my tears

Unto your body

Bleach my scars

Take my song with you

Over stones

Clean my wounds

Braid my hair with lilies

Let me become your glistening

Take me along your causeways,

Through the winding of the Rio Grande

to the eternal lilac sea.
